Three and a half days of action and adrenaline! From walking the catwalk on the New River Gorge Bridge, 851 feet above the river, to riding the rapids on the New River, we experienced the Gorge from top to bottom. After opening with the mud obstacle course, we enjoyed kayaking and cliff diving on Summerville Lake, exploring Sandstone Falls, walking the catwalk on the New River Gorge Bridge, taking in the views on the Endless Wall, exploring the abandoned coal mining town of Nuttallburg, and capping off the adventure with an intense rafting trip on the New River with many class 4 and 5 rapids! An amazing time was had by all! |
This 9 lake paddle challenge took us 5 miles across the Chain O' Lakes State Park via nine connected kettle lakes. This is a little piece of paradise for canoeist and kayakers. It was a perfect day to be on the water - temperatures in the mid to upper 60's, partly sunny and early enough in the season to miss the bugs! It was a fun paddle with the unique landscape and challenges along the way. Even with some time fishing, we knocked this challenge out in approximately 3.5hrs.
